Like with PCs, the world of PDAs is also evolving. The potential of use for PDA devices is enormous, even though their development has not been the most impressive, especially if compared to the world of mobile telephony. So much so that a few months ago some analysts got to the point of affirming that “the PDA market has been saturated” and “growth in this segment is destined to fall.” Especially in Europe where the cellular phone is the boss and the PDA has difficulty in affirming its own usefulness.

I am not a "power user", using my axim mainly for reading e-books (i am a fanatical reader, and find it easier to carry my axim than a book), and the calendar and address book functions. That being said, I'm finding other uses for it all the time, such as notes, reminders (not on the calendar!), games, etc. i honestly feel the market here in the US is far from saturated, and as more people realize the usefulness of the pda (not just the axim), more will sell. i also think companies like dell, compaq, hp (same as compaq, eh?) should look at what sony and palm are doing with palm powered pdas and maybe learn from them.

I thing the real answer is user friendly software bundles that showcase the possibilities of the pocket pc. When I bought mine, I was looking for a pda & was pleasantly surprised at its versatility.
