Ok folks, a little editorial here.

Here I was looking for news and latest software at Handango when I ran across a couple of new entries for June 19. I know about the Pocket Strip Poker that you can download from Handango, but I was shocked when I saw that Porno Movies from Tandem Entertainment are now available for download.

I guess it was just a matter of time that someone actually take advantage of this handheld market with porn, since no else made any type of sexual "innovation" since pocket strip poker.

Now before I could write this, I had to make sure that this is actually the real thing, so I had to download the movie. I just didn't want to accuse Handango of promoting porn at their site without any merit.

Let see how should we start here. Oh on the list of new software (heck this isn't software), it said that you can collect 5 XXX movies, and the product is optimized for all Pocket PCs with ARM processor.

Wow, 5 Movies for $9.95, that's a bargain. Well don't get your hopes up, it was a collection of 5 short scenes. Hmmm and I was expecting an entire movie with the download. Thumbs down ...no story line. I want a refund.

Optimized for the ARM processor. Gosh porn at the cutting edge of technology. Wait I have a Xscale proccesor, darn it, it is backward compatible, so I guess I can still view it. Should I sue Intel for this?
Heck anyone can find this in the Internet for free, but hey hey hey it is optimized to be viewed at 320x240 resolution. Does that resolution sounds familiar to you. You guessed it, it belongs to your Pocket PC. I wonder if these are the selling points of the product, or could it be the sex scenes.

Now a couple of questions comes to mind ...did Tandem have the rights to publish these scenes? Do they own the material, and why is Handango, a reputable company, promoting this product?

Oh get this ...you can vote for this product as Handango's People's Choice Awards. I sure can predict what product will win this award.
Now if that happens, I can imagine the thousands, millions of dollars this could generate. Could you?

This could likely become another outlet for porn, and yes, the soon to be the killer app for Pocket PCs (yeah right). It could very well make Pocket PC the number one PDA in the world or it could be the one that saves Pocket PC. Headline: Porn save Microsoft and Pocket PC. Good grief.

I guess my point here is that I don't think that Handango should be promoting this kind of products. I don't think it is appropriate. If anything, Tandem should sell this product at their own website. Well Tandem Entertainment doesn't have a website, or at least one that I can find - which led me to believe that this is a one person company, and this could be very well be his private collection ...but I could be wrong.

I only hope that there is some form of age verification prior to sale. Adult products should be sold to adults. Handango could be in for trouble if they dont cordon this off from their normal "Any Age" software.

I know you can get this off of KaZaa with no problem, 15-20 minute "movies" that have such low resolution that they ONLY look "good" on a small screen. Hence, no need for conversion, just DL them to a CF or SD card and open up MVP......if that one won't work.........DL a few more until you find one that does. Be BMOC in the Junior High Locker Room.

(Yes, I've downloaded some....I'm an adult, it's my choice). However I wouldn't want my 10 year old to come to me and say "I'd like to get this program from Handango". And have to start second guessing a hitherto trusted site.

I agree, Handango is not being too smart about this. <_<

• The age thing: you have to use a creditcard, kids don't have that
• Porn will come in one way or another to any plattform
• If Handango promote this, they can loose there reputation, and so what? There are other webshops
• If you are dumb enough to pay for old pornmovies on a small screen...

Have to dispute that. I've got a 15 yearold with a VisaaBuxx Card that's accepted Online, at ATMs and at Brick & Mortar Stores worldwide. Anyplace a Visa Card can be used, so can VisaBUXX.

It's linked to my Bank of America account (but seperate as far as useage is concerned), he's got it only because I gave it to him and I keep it funded.....but most importantly, because he's a GOOD KID, and I TRUST him.

Seriously, kids get to have Visa in US?

Up here kids under 18 only get to have cards that they can use in ATM's...

Never said he didn't.............I know he does, for the same reasoning you use. I did too, at his age.

It's just more pervasive this day & age. Which is the main reason I have always made it a point to answer ANY question he's asked with a truthful answer - at whatever age he asked it. True, depending on his age at the time, some of them were worded to his ability to understand at that time. But never did I say "the stork brought you", either.

We do have rules for computer usage, one of which is NEVER erase TempIE FIles or History. And he knows that I do review what he's been looking at and ask him about some of the places he's been occasionally, and then WE DISCUSS IT - Privately, between he and I.

I know he has access to other PCs and can view what he wishes other places. But because of the effort WE'VE put into our relationship as he's grown up, I really don't worry much about him.

He has yet to prove me wrong, and he knows that there would be SEVERE consequences if he ever did. Those consequences have never had to be named or invoked.

Although I generally don't condone the erotica industry, I believe that you can't find it to be immoral or wrong, simply because sex is a natural part of being human. If you want to keep your kids from watching porn, that's your decision, if you don't care, that's your decision too. It's not the job of the rest of the world to make that decision or enforce that decision. That's part of the responsibility of being a parent. If you don't like the idea of pornography you won't buy it. Simple enough right?
