Consumer Reports Evaluates Navigation Systems

Consumer Reports selected two GPS, The Navman GPS 3420 and the Travelroute Pocket Copilot, as their choice for Pocket PC.

"Whether it's skiing or a weekend of sun, surf and sand, if you hit the road and forgot the map, no problem. Limousine drivers are always traveling unfamiliar routes to unfamiliar locations. Joseph Valenza programs any address he's looking for into his navigation system and it guides him there. "Left turn, left turn ahead." But these systems are expensive, about $2,000. Consumer Reports' Tom Mutchler tested portable devices that cost anywhere from $150 to $1000. "

Consumer Reports did a comparison last fall of all the new PDA's from CES. If you missed the magazine issue, you have to subscribe to their online reviews for the details.
