Will Microsoft’s latest offering make PCs irrelevant?
For long, the telephone had remained an instrument with limited functionality and simple interface. The bulky, black, and expensive equipment had a rotary dial pad with just ten decimal digits. All that one did with the instrument was to call someone; the intuitive “dial tone” told you whether the instrument was “dead” or “alive”; simple “ring tones” gave you an indication of “busy” or “calling” status and it used the “power” from the battery in the “telephone exchange” that was miles away.
