unable to setup partnership

I just got my awesome new Axim x51v, and am having serious problems trying to setup a new connection with my desktop machine. I previously had Activesync 4.0 installed and had no problems with sync-ing with a HP 1945 on this same machine.

I deleted the partnership with the HP, uninstalled AS 4.0 and reinstalled 4.1 I've rebooted between each (just to be sure). I've even uninstalled Office 03 and reinstalled it, then uninstalled AS4.1, and hard reset the Axim. Then I reinstalled the AS4.1. Still nothing.

I'm running XP SP2 (no firewalls at all). I've disabled the Checkpoint and Cisco VPN NDIS protocols, and still nothing.

My machine just doesn't want to find the Axim. It tells me the Device is not detected. Yet when I plugged the Axim in the first time, the USB plug and pray popups told me that it recognized a Dell Axim x51v and completed installing the device successfully.

I'm at my wit's end. Any one with any good ideas?

I figured it out! I even tried connecting this to 2 other machines with the EXACT same issues, but I did not bother going through so much rebuilding on the the other 2.
I had to open the new Network Connection to the 'Windows Mobile device' and check off the boxes for Client for Microsoft Network, File and Print Sharing, and TCP/IP. Apparently this is not done automatically during the connection for some stupid reason only the developer knows.

Hopefully it will encourage those who (will) post/posted to do the same. Some posts don't acknowledged whether their problem is resolved or not.
