any good map software out there?/

was just wondering if anyone has had a chance to get a hold of a good map software progam. some thing with major cities in the US. thanks!!

When you say "get ahold", do you mean Pirate? I have seen several great web sites where you can purchase wonderful GPS software like the Tom Tom USA maps or the Destinator 3. Quick google searches should warrant you a site where you can purchase. If, on the other hand you're looking for pirated copies, you've come to the wrong site.

not interested in "pirated" software. i'm new to this whole PDA thing and just want as much stuff as possible crammed on the one 1gig SD card I just purchaced and maps and game are at the top of my list. I feel confident that i could surf around and find what i need or think i need but i came here to find out whats been tried and weigh opinions, as i said I'm new to this and a site titled aximusers seemed like a good place to start. :blink:

As I am a big fan of Ostia's mapping software which Pharos includes in all their GPS Products. There are also several others available, which include: Mapopolis, Routis, TomTom, Destinator and PocketMap Navigator.

I'm sorry if I was acccusatory in my first response. We've had several people come in here looking for free software and this is not a pirate board so I just like to head them off at the pass so to speak. I have given you a couple of really good places to start, both of those software products are really well done. I can also point you in the direction for cables as well. I am in the market for a cable to hook my X3i up to my Garmin Etrex unit and once I get that will be looking to supplement it with one of these products. I just use Pocket Streets and the map conversion utility. Free is the right price for me. As my laptop came with Streets and Trips, I was able to carve out a map of the one place I wanted that I couldn't get by downloading from Microsoft.

update: I was just wandering the MS web site; is Pocket Streets 2001 no longer free?
