Send & receive E mail

I would like to know if it is possible to send an email while I am synchronizing my Axim. The contacts I have on the axim has a space for email addresses. When you hit the address, a box comes up allowing you to write an email. It has a "send" button in upper left corner. Shouldn't this email be sent when you synchronize your PDA? I use aol for email.
Also, shouldn't my emails from aol be transferred to my inbox on the PDA?
How do I get this to work. I called Dell tech support and they gave me this website. They said they were not trained to answer questions of this nature.

In my brief experience you can send emails while syncing but getting emails into the inbox will happen only if you have a pop based account. I have IMAP and the inbox software doesn't have the capability to handle IMAP protocol.
If you hit contact, and write an email to the person whose email shows up, upon syncing the email will be sent through your desktop.

On that note....is it possible to use the Internet on an Axim when synched???

If so - can anyone tell me how to set it up?

Honestly, your ax should surf the net it you have broadband on your desktop. When synced just click on IE and go to a website! It should work just fine!
