iPod as axim hdd

I recently received the usb cf client accessory for my axim. I installed all the software and connected my 160 Gb iPod to it.

The axim recognized it as external harddisk and i got access to all my files.

I could even stream large media files from the iPod.

The only thing that did not work was the function where you can see how much space you are using on any storage unit connected (internal memory, cf or sd). It told me that the external hdd was there, just no info on the capacity.

Not concerned with the lack of this function i disconnected the iPod and proceeded to fill it with data.

Later that week i tried to connect it again, but it did not recognise it. I tried a flash usb stick and there was no problem. I tried messing about with the settings on the iPod for hdd use but still no result.

Anyone have any ideas?

How much data do you have on the iPod? My best guess here, would have to do with the size of the iPod, and the limitations of the axim fat/fat32 file system. which is supposedly good for drives up to about 132 Gb, then the fs has issues.

Using 120 Gb at the moment. Is the fat file system standard on the iPod?. I am using it as a standard iPod too. Will that change it to NTFS?

No, the iPod used with a windows system will stay Fat 32.
