Hello out there. I got my AXIM just before Xmas and I'm really happy I got it. Many of my coworkers had Compaq IPAQs and I was kind of scared that by paying less than half of what they payed I would get something inferior, but they were all as impressed with the X5 as I was.
I do have one question. I'm trying to find out if the X5 will handle the SDIO cards when they become available. This kind of SD cards will allow bidirectional communications and that means that Wireless, Modem and WI-FI cards will be available in this format. I was just wondering so that I can make up my mind as to what kind of cards I will purchase in CF and in SD formats.
Thanks

As it stands, I have a 256mb SD card for my storage needs and a CF WiFi cards for my IO needs. I find nothing wrong with this setup. I would imagine SDIO cards would cost more because of their small size. You might want to consider that.

As far as i know, thats one thing the X5 when for on lower costs, i read somwhere that the SD in the axim isnt an SDIO, its just simply for memory, and not for IO devices. This doesnt make much sense to me but i would say before you go an buy a SDIO device, contact Dell and ask them about this. If i were you i would just wait for the SanDisk Combo CF, its gona have wireless and flash memory on the same card. Here is a link http://www.dpreview.com/news/0301/03010906...sandiskwifi.asp
Hope i helped,

Genocyde, thanks for that information. That's an excellent idea, combining the two. They just need to make it 256 and 512 megabytes, now. B)

www.pocketpcthoughts.com has an article about xscale processors supporting SDIO. It may just be a driver thing.

Well, that sucks. I'm quite pleased with my CFIO card. I just use memory in my SD slot. Although, the smaller the device, the better.
There is a CF card out there that is a wireless NIC as well as a memory card.
