I bought a charge & sync cable recently - can't remember where. But when I connected to my usb port with my axim it didn't charge, it drained. I think the power remaining was below 50% - I seem to remember a thread about some of them causing problems if the power was low.
Is it supposed to charge on usb? Or should I only expect it to charge in the car?
Thanks,
Carla

First, does the package say that is is a charge/sync cable or just a sync cable?
I just posted on another thread where a user said that using a cheaper (of brand) power/sync cable can actually drain your battery as opposed to charge it, because they don't supply enough voltage from your PC. I would reccomend that you get a refund and go with a brand name cable like Belkin or Boxwave. Dell sells Belkin, so you know they will work fine with your Axim.
Personally, I use the Belkin 3-in-1 travel kit for the X3 and a BoxWave MiniSync cable for the X3. Both work flawlessly, and provide a great charge.
I'm not throwing you a sales pitch, just sharing my experience. Best of luck with this!!

When I use my usb sync/charge cable, I start to see drainage at somewhere below 85-90%. To elaborate on what woocham said, I have seen others report that the battery will drain, instead of charging, when you get below 80%.

What a pain! That means that if you're going to plan on using it, make sure it's fully charged before you plug it in?
If I order the better cable, I assume my x5 can be low and I can easily charge it in the car? The one I bought I'll probably just keep; not worth trying to return; I don't think I paid much for it.
I have gps and bluetooth things coming and I want to be able to run them on my pda in the car without worrying about battery drain.

I understand what the previous user is posting, but I have to say, since I've been using my Belkin sync/charge cablw, i've had absolutely no problems charging. I've charged it from 10% all the way to full, doesn't matter. I've never had the "drain effect. So in essence, yes, if you get the better cable, you won't have to worry about the drain.
