I tried installing the software for this from the cd and then their website. It installs on the pc then tells me that the axim x5 is not a valid device.
I also am getting a message about their software not passing a test for windows xp. I am using an xp machine.
Anyone else run across this? BummeR!
One thing that may be causing issues is that the cable that comes with it seems to be for CHARGING not for data. There's a separate data cable you need? How very shortsighted of them not to include both or to not make a dual cable. sheesh.
Update..... Finally after a second call to Dell, I find I need a bluetooth card - looks like their truemobile wireless cf card.
Oh, and I called Taiwan (.71 cents a minute on my plan) and actually had a good experience so far with Holux's technical support. I did NOT get put on eternal hold, got someone that spoke english quite well, and an email address to one of their engineers who emailed me promptly. Email is easier on both sides because of the cost and language problems. His email suggested that the problem with the GPSViewer software did did not mean that the device wouldn't connect to the Axim. I got to going thru the instructions again and realized I might be missing something, thus another call to Dell to see, and voila! The need for another card is revealed. I didn't know infrared wouldn't handle it!
