Hello, I have learned about a situation about these Hitachi 4 gig microdrives. I bought one from a person off Ebay and the person bought a few things and sold some from Ebay. I purchased it and received it. I got it home , bought a card reader cause the one I had would not fit. I plugged it in my PC and formatted it. Okay all is good. Stuck it in my PDA and now the headache and heartache. It asked me to format, I say yes and then get an error message. I did it again and said no and when I would look at the drive it was ok, unless I transfered file, folders, music, etc to it. When I looked at it through explorer or the PDA, I saw scrambled or error folders with strange letters and characters in it. Tried erasing them, no way, only through format with the computer. Tried 3 programs I have in my PDA for it and still nothing. I did get one program to scan, check the read and write feature. All is good, except the PDA will not read the data correctly. So I contacted Hitachi and after a few emails back and forth, they informed me that when the drives are made they are made to be CF compliant or not. There is not way to tell by looking, but when you give the serial number to them they can tell you. I know some got theirs to work, but there is no way to tell. Mine came from a Creative Muvo and Hitachi told me that and also the person I got it from. Fear in sending it back cause I may not get the drive or money, so I have an external 4 gig hard drive that I can use in my reader but not he PDA. So buyer beware. If you have any ideas about any of this let me , cause this was an anniversary present from my wife and she is kinda hurt its not working right. What similiar expirences have you had with the microdrive? Thanks
