well, I checked out this site for a few minutes....the info is interesting but, I don't know if I agree with the way he comes up with the list of cards that have issues with the Axim. It appears that all you need to do is send him an email telling him you've had a problem with a certain card. If that's the benchmark for testing the product, then I don't agree with it. In some cases, it can be the user and not the card.
But, he does offer disclaimers at the site about the info posted and I think this is what you need to pay more attention to rather than the information about the various cards.
I've tried some of the cards he has posted on this site as reported 'problem cards' and have had no issues with them.
As with all cards, you will run into people who have luck with using these cards and you will run into people who have had problems with these cards. But, to post a site like this with nothing technical to base the information on, doesn't seem like a good practice. I don't know...maybe I'm veiwing it wrong (?). I'll check out the site a little more. Thanks for the link

I agree. but he claims he did some testing, and has a page that describes the procedure.
All things aside, it stands to reason that any card that seems to be faulting a large number of users is one to stay away from.

I have a new Sandisk 256MB SD that is now not working. It replaced a Sandisk 128MB SD card that was having no problems. I don't get that, but I guess I have to switch back to the 128, but not until I check out the 256 with a reader, which of course is at home right now... I may be sending the 256 back after that.

The website is the work of HappyCheesecake, who is also member of Aximusers.com.

i have a related question. are sd cards and mmc cards compatable? can you use mmc cards in an sd card slot, such as on my axim? i realize this is a "newbie question, but i'm going to buy either card, and if the mmc card has less problems, i'll go with that. never mind, a little research on the different manufacturers websites tell me they are compatible

3 Weeks ago replaced my SD256 with a SD128, no problems so far with the 128meg. Using a simple SD128. Just p/u a simple 256meg CF card, loaded it with mp3's. I'll see how it works. Was using a CF128meg, no problem.
Would like to go back to a 256meg SD but will wait until no problems. Oh yeah, this is computer land, always some problem.
After reading all the other postings got in a habit of copying my cards to my hard drive. Now for trying my CF modem.

Ok. My little website.
a) I can't refuse anyone's feedback if they supply the "basic info" on the feedback page. Just what can I do to ensure that people would send feedback? A user could be anything from a newbie to a experienced user. I had to ask them for whatever info they could give... I've had a number (over 500) of emails stating that "My SD card works / doesn't work, but you state it does/doesn't - you're not telling the truth.." So what can I tell them? The other people who supplied their feedback are lying? (BTW I've had over 20,000 emails, you can see that I've not added info for at least 19,700 of them...)
B) My test will determine if the card / Axim is faulty or not. Period. It works - I've got over 110 SD cards and only 12 pass those tests.
c) Yes, I did say card / Axim. I know why the problem exists and I can't tell you - sorry
d) I quite freely admit that anyone with a working card, especially with a code starting with AR03 shouldn't really try the tests. Cos its going to fail them.
e) Janine248 - any AR03 card that I have as failed that you don't WILL FAIL in my (and others) Axim's. Honest. Sandisk has admited this will happen. The problem is so random you'll never know when it happens until you'll get the dot directories, reformat message and or corruption.
f) AR0307NS and some AR02 cards appear to work (so far), and most Japanese cards do too. However, for some Axim users they'll never have the problem... Its not because their Axim won't cause the problem, its because their users say "They've tried some of the cards and had no problems with them.." Er, tried - how? Copied a few MP3s and listened to them? That's not real world usage you know!
g) I've not reported any of my cards - all the info on the list is other users info. The idea is to make your own mind up - but I found that lots of users asked me "what card to buy?" and in the end I just said "The ones that OTHERS have reported as working..." That's SimpleTech, Panasonic, Toshiba, Memorex, etc...

Oh, and for those with faulty Sandisk branded SD cards, there's some info about Sandisk's new "Axim compatable" cards here. I've included both Sandisk US and European Support email addresses too...
