Does anybody know of a wifi cf card that supports LEAP authentication? I would like to get email, etc... at school, but in order to use wifi at my school, you need a wifi card that supports LEAP authentication.

To my knowledge (and I found this out the hard way at work!), there aren't any CF WiFi cards that support LEAP. LEAP is currently CISCO proprietary and no other manufacturers (Netgear, DLink, Linksys, etc...) currently support LEAP authentication. CISCO cards that support LEAP are currently only available in the PCMCIA form factor.

Cisco LEAP
Provides centralized, scalable, user – based authentication
Algorithm requires mutual authentication (network authenticates client, client authenticates network)
Uses 802.1x for 802.11 authentication messaging (APs will support Windows XP’s EAP-TLS)
Dynamic WEP key support with WEP key session timeout
It is pretty cool, but as Kevin C. Tofel said, it is proprietary.

That's what I thought......! I know many workplaces and schools use LEAP and thought that some of these manufacturers would choose to produce cards that support it. I think that 3com has a PCMCIA card that supports LEAP, but I don't know of anyone else. My schools uses LEAP on their wifi network and I'd love to be able to get email and view the web while there. Oh, well. Maybe in the near future, they'll produce one. I'll just cross my fingers!!
Thanks, everyone!

Robc7698 ...you can still get it, but you just have to get a Cisco card that supports it. If I remember it correct, it falls in the category of Cisco Aironet.
Now having one doesn't mean that your school will allow you access.
Ask your network admin for details.

I heard Cisco is trying to make a CF card in the Aironet Leap line but they have been having problems with the power drain.
Also heard from another PPC Device manufacturer that Pocket PC 2003 will be able to help with the Leap.
Anyone else heard anything.....

I have not heard of it, but I'm all for it.
Talk about power consumption, Intel just announced the other day that they're introducing a new Xscale Processor. It will still be a Xscale Processor, but it is designed to utilized and optimized batteries.
The current processor model is PXA250, and the new one will be PXA255.
