Axim x51v Wifi failed

Hello Friends,
I have a Dell Axim X51v PDA that comes with Windows Mobile 5.0 installed. I am facing problem with network connectivity.

In short Description:

I am having my own developed Client/Server architecture .net Compact framework application, its works fine in proper network connectivity on my Axim X51v.

Problem arrives when my device moved out the network (about 100mt) & device gets auto power off.
Now power on my device will show me, no network connection. Now, even if come back to my network still device is failed to get connected with network. I tried a lot but, can’t found cause of network failure.

My Axim X51v is running on battery power at most of time.

I will be very thanks full if you can help me to find solution or any utility that can make re-connectivity. It’s good if any open source concept is there, which I can implement in my application.

There have been complaints about the Dell WLAN client's inability to jump across wireless repeaters and reconnect after going out of range under certain conditions. This appears to be a limitation in Dell's software.

I haven't heard of an open source solution to the problem, but Socket has a program called the Socket WiFi Companion that claims to solve it. You could try its 3 day trial to see if it solves the problem and possibly license a portion of their code to add to your own. Have you tried using the Odyssey client instead of the Dell WLAN Client? It's another possible workaround and it's included on the X51v for free. Hopefully Dell fixes the problem with the WLAN client in a future ROM update.

Let us know how Odyssey and Socket work out and good luck!

Dhiresh.Mistry-

Dell recently released a wifi chipset driver update that claims to address your exact problem. See this article for more information.
