Personally, I dont think the microdrive is the way to go, because many users have had troubles with it. It seems to be very unreliable and with storage that's what its about, really... Other than that, a microdrive is very energy hungry, so that doesnt make portable devices so portable.
I have heard rumors of a microdrive with 6Gb capacity being released early 2003, hopefully the new microdrive will have a lower power usage and a higher reliability. But personally I just dont think it's good for any type of hard disk (with moving parts) to walk around with them.
