How to add other MS icons on today screen?

I have read that one would go to tart-->Settings-->Today-->Items but what about adding icons like the Excel or Word for Windows, ect..? I have seen some users having those icons on their today screen, how does one go about adding those icons? Any information would be greatly appreciated.
