I tracked the sounds down as being C:\WINDOWS\Media
Windows XP Hardware Insert
Windows XP Hardware Remove
Suggesting that the device continues to connect / disconnect (or try) while plugged in. All I'm doing at this point is charging it using the USB charger / sync cable.
I remember this from before. It stopped when I installed ActiveSync. It may be trying to find something to connect to other than power. Please make it stop!
Wait a second (or two) ... has it finally stopped on its own? Sheesh! After an hour ... Maybe it ran out of memory or something ... max tries? I'm going to unplug and plug in again to see what happens.
