painfully slow PIE

My Axim X5(400 mhz) is getting painfully slow at loading saved web pages, sometimes taking 2 minutes to load. I don't have a modem installed but I use the Axim to read a lot of web pages at my leisure. Is there possibly some cache file somewhere that needs clearing or is it something wrong with the OS? Thanks
