I'm wondering now if this thing has a start-up mechanism like PC Windows has so I can set it to automatically start an application when it boots up.

My guess is that the set-up screen (to align) has its own way of starting up automatically. It's only supposed to do it once (I guess).

But your thought on the next experiment looks like an interesting one. If the problem is only in the set-up, maybe progress can be made by editing to cause it to bypass the set-up.

In fact, from the looks of things -- where the cross-hairs show up in the align window -- I think the alignment is already probably pretty good.

I've spent a lot of time on this and need to get some other work done, so I'm probably going to stop working on it for a while. Please post it if you have some specific ideas about how the set-up might be bypassed, or if you try anything new.

If we can explore and edit the files on the PDA, is there a file we could edit to fool it into thinking the screen was aligned? A registry file of some kind? I'd really like to see if the touch would work if I was past that point. Or I could even get some functionality out of the unit if I could just use the directional button.
