If advanced network functionality is enabled, axim shows up as a new network connection, possibly, your auto network setup is requirihg a pre-enterd saved password in outlook. Conjecture.

Network? I have NO network. Yes, tried the USB setting on the axim, same result, same error. I think the "network" WMDC is referring to is the connection to Outlook, in my opinion, as I can sync documents and view the SD card contents and such.
Vista was a complete clean install, no upgrade.
