Microsoft Garbage
Can not get Dell X51V to sync with Outlook 2007. Brand new Dell Axim only
two days old. Nothing installed but Outlook Business Contact manager for
PPC.
Deleted and reinstalled WMDC version 6.0.6783.
Added ports to Windows Firewall Exceptions as suggested in WMDC
troubleshooting
Added exception in One Care Firewall Settings as explained in this Newsgroup
Tried shutting off firewall alltogether
Went to "serial mode" on PDA with no luck. WMDC will install proper driver
for either config and recognize PDA with same result.
WMDC will connect and recognize PDA correctly and will let me install
programs and browse CF card, but can NOT sync at all.
Error in Sync Center - Active Sync encountered an error on the Desktop
Also have installed Business Contact Manager for Outlook 2007 and the PPC
Version - I get error "unexpected error opening the Business Contact Manager
store." when I check the option to sync with it.
I also get a pop up error from WMDC saying:
"Synchronization cannot be started because you are not able to log on to the
network and access information. Restart your desktop computer and
synchronize again. If the problem persists, contact your network admin."
I have not tried to uninstall Live One Care but have heard this program
causes problems..
Patiently waiting to get my Outlook data onto my new PPC.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Let's see, I have a brand new Dell Axim X51V with MICROSOFT WINDOWS MOBILE 5
on it and a desktop with MICROSOFT VISTA ULTIMATE on it and using MICROSOFT
WINDOWS MOBILE DEVICE CENTER will not sync with MICROSOFT OFFICE 2007
OUTLOOK at all. I have searched several forums, called tech support at Dell
and Microsoft, opened ports on firewalls, added programs as exceptions,
reinstalled operating systems, Office, WMDC all with the same result. These
MICROSOFT PRODUCTS DO NOT SUCCESSFULLY WORK TOGETHER.
No wonder Dell is jumping ship and getting out of the PPC market. MICROSOFT
could not find their ass with both hands.
I would venture to guess that NOBODY here can get the above products to work
together as they are supposed to, reliabily and without any problems. If
you can - please chime in here.
It is pretty unbelievable that MICROSOFT can not get their own products to
work together, and that so many people are having such problems with
synching Outlook 2007 and Vista.
Throw the PPC's in the garbage and get a small notepad and a pen. Works
great and the worst that can happen is the pen runs out of ink. No tech
support required, works EVERY time.
After this whole ordeal, If I could "Quit" on Microsoft and never buy or
support their products again I would but how is a person going to do this?
Instead, I simply have to give up the use of a PPC until MICROSOFT can
figure this out and make their products work together. Oh, I will still
have to make the paymets on my new Axim, even though it will not work as
advertised. My old X5 was fine, but it has MICROSOFT PPC 2003 on it and the
new MICROSOFT WMDC does not support their own products and said I needed a
PPC with WM5 or newer on it to work with MICROSOFT VISTA. I bought VISTA,
OFFICE 2007, WMDC latest release and a new PPC with WM5 on it and I still
can not sync with all the latest Microsoft products freshly installed,
thousands of dollars later. Good news for MICROSOFT though, they made a
bunch of money and thats what counts to them, not having software that works
with it's own.
Thanks to all on this site who have dilligently tried to help so many others
like myself, to no avail. Hopefully someday my new PPC will work before it
becomes extinct as well.
Just don't forget - We are all at the mercy of the MICROSOFT CORPORATION for
a solution here...
