Hi,
HAICOM support was kind enough to provide me with two pieces of software (Hi-Test ppc = GPS info, and SiRFDemoIII) that were able to confirm that the Serial GPS receiver is in fact transmitting its signal to com1 and that the x51v is receiving it and can use it.
One interesting thing, however, is that the simpler prg (GPS info) could search com ports and immediatly located the signal on com 1, but that it also responded to the mapped com port called active device (I chose com 6) thanks to the AXIM's own GPS manager (system). GPS info can locate the receiver's signal on com 1 even with the AXIM's manager dissabled. But, the more complex prg (SiRFDemoIII), while it could register that the receiver was attached to com 1 and then mapped to com 6 could only receive the signal on com1 and then only if the AXIM's manager was active.
At least this all demonstrates that the AXIM and the HAICOM are compatable. YAY!
Now onto why tomtom 6 can't do anything with the signal... My current ROM version is A06 (12190500). Let's see if A12 can help, or if it's all too difficult and I should use Destinator instead.
(Thanks MAHSTAH - different thread - for giving me the courage to upgrade the ROM. Pen and paper at the ready to record all those network settings that will dissappear.)
bye,
Shuei.
