You will always get some power use even though it's switched off. Check there aren't any programs still 'running' in memory - i.e. Settings/System/Memory Stop All Programs (something like that). usual culprits are Active Synch - which tends to wake up some Axims from time to time. Upgrading to the lates firmware (A12) seems to cure this problem. Running out of battery isn't a problem with these units - as long as there is no transient data in applications you shouldn't loose any information. Just charge it up and switch on!
The maxim for all handhelds is to keep them charged up whenever possible.
