Remove any cards present and then press and hold Power, scroll in, contacts and reset.
Hold all 4 buttons for 5 seconds and then release power and reset.
Hold contacts and scrool in for approx 10 secons and release.
This will reset the ROM.
I suggest you test the axim without installing the keyboard or drivers first before continuing.
