Do you have the X50 low range (416MHz w/o wifi) or the mid or high range (520 or 624MHz with wifi)?
If you have the low range one you'll need to purchase a wifi card. Socket is a very popular brand. Otherwise, you just need to turn on wifi and the Axim will find the network and ask you to connect.
You can try copying the word template to the Axim but you might lose some formatting from it. Pocket Office does not support all the features of its desktop cousin. The only way to find out if it will work is to test.
