Enjoy your new x30.
The back up battery only charges once the main battery is full. From new, this will take over 5 hours, with many people charging 1st time for 8 hours, this is long after the light turns green.
The back up battery is only designed to retain data in the volatile memory for short periods of time whilst the main battery is changed.( 30 mins). It does not generate enough power to allow the unit to be operated.
If you remove the main battery, the x30 will not work as it does not have the power to do so. You can ( I think), however switch it on with the main battery removed if you plug in the mains adapter.
The back up battery does not have a percentage bar like the main one, and what you are experiencing is normal for the x30.
Your X30 is perfectly ok and so is the back up battery.
