I should have waited to do the upgrade....
I had internet access working flawlessly between my x50v and my Nokia 3650 on T-Mobile's network.
Now I can't even get the new ROM to let me add a modem. Everytime I add one, when I go back and look at 'Connections' I don't have the option to look at an existing modem.
I try to connect and the initial BT part happens (details shows a 'connection') and then when it tries to do the 'net part I get the old 'cannot establish connection'.
My laptop can still connect just fine so it's got to be something that was 'fixed' in the new ROM...
UPDATE
I restored my old A01 ROM backup set hoping that there would be something in there that would show me the error of my way. I found the problem: Microsoft manages to take something which should be very simple and screws it up. Then Dell comes along a 'fixes' it even better so it won't work at all.
But, seriously...
The first thing I found was a missing 'additional dial string' (the old +cgdcont=1,,"internet2.voicestream.com") so I restored my backup which I made under the A02 ROM and tried to get that setting in.
I was able to get the setting in, but since most of the system still doesn't think there's a modem installed (when you go back and look at the connections the BT modem one we just made isn't there) even when I use the 'dialup networking' BT config I just created I get a message saying I don't have a modem or network card installed and I need that in order to get to the internet.
If I try to install my 'T-Mobile GPRS' setting again it says that there is already one present (even tho you can't find it listed anywhere.)
I'm going to try to restore my A01 ROM backup again and see if I can't just use that backup uner the A02 ROM until I can get an answer from Dell.
