Not clear from your answer. Did you re install Activesync and also do a hard reset on the Axim ??? ( not a soft reset using the reset button).
Hard reset is holding power, scroll in , contacts and reset at the same time.
You can also run diagnostics. Hold all of the above buttons and then release power and reset only. Hold the other two for about 15 secs.
I had similar problems recently on an x50v. re install and hard reset cured the problem
