Living in New Orleans will give you a dose of the Carnival. In fact since 1991, I've had my few shares of the parades, and considering where I live; there are 3 straight days of parades.
Carnival Season officially started on Jan. 6th of this year, and it ends on March 4th; the day before Ash Wednesday. The parade season starts on Feb 21st.
People from all over the country and the world flock down to New Orleans just to partake in the festivities, but as for me, I can say I’ve had enough of it. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve enjoyed the parades that I’ve went to, but I guess I’m just not a parade person.
If any of you plan to partake in the festivities, I would suggest hurrying and booking your flights and hotel rooms. Don’t be like the guy I saw in the street that was sleeping on top of a Toyota Tercel with a comforter, while his other two buddies where sleeping inside the car. Party or Bust!
Mardi Gras is a fun time for the city, and if any of have been here in New Orleans before, share you thoughts and experiences about the city and Mardi Gras.
